Pastoral Care Team
Christ the King’s home bound and ill members receive care through the Pastoral Care Team. Seven CTK members regularly visit the ill in our congregation and our shut-ins. Anyone with a Pastoral Care need should contact the Church office at 303-935-4669.
Whiz Kids Tutoring
Christ the King sponsors a Christian elementary school tutoring program. During the school year, several CTK members tutor students from the Kunsmiller Creative Arts Academy, across the street from the church.
Prime Timers, CTK’s senior group for those ages 55 and over, meet for lunch on the second Tuesday of each month. Other special outings are planned. Several times a year, our Prime Timers meets with the Good Times Seniors from Abiding Hope. A combined luncheon with both groups is planned for July 19.
Prime Timers next luncheon will be on Tuesday, March 14, at 12 noon at the Black Eyed Pea, 1st and Wadsworth Blvd. Please make reservations to Anna Lisa Reynolds.
Hearts and Hands Together
Christ the King recently started an outreach and fellowship program. HHT has been involved in neighborhood events and outreach. Last year, they donated Christmas gifts to local needy children. They also participated in several Harvey Park events.

Christ the King will sponsor a Home Shopping Party Day in Fellowship Hall on Saturday, March 25. We will have ten vendors, including Tupperware, Party Lite, Pampered Chef, Avon, and more. It’s a perfect time to shop for graduations, weddings, showers, and other upcoming spring/summer events. Just drop in! Bring your friends!
Volunteers of America – Family Motel
Several times a year, Christ the King participates in a special Outreach project. This year during Lent 2017, Christ the King will support a local charity right in our neighborhood at 4855 W. Colfax Ave. The “Family Motel” is run by the Volunteers of America. It is designed to be an emergency overflow space when Denver’s larger homeless shelters are full. The stays are short, usually only a few days. They then work to find more permanent housing for them.
We have available an Easter basket with plastic Easter eggs filled with items to purchase for the Family Motel. Pick up an Easter egg and purchase the item named inside the egg. Return items to the collection basket outside of Fellowship Hall by Easter Sunday, April 16. You can also sign up to bring items for home cleaning and kitchen kits. Check out the bulletin board outside of Fellowship Hall for all of the details. If you would like to make a monetary donation to purchase items, make checks payable to CTK, marked for “Family Motel” and place in the offering plate.
Community Ministry of Southwest Denver
Christ the King supports the work of a local food bank and ministry right in our neighborhood in southwest Denver year-round. Community Ministry has a food pantry and kid’s clothing bank on site. At various times during the year, they provide school supplies and Christmas gifts for area children, Holiday food boxes for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They also hold a Vacation Bible School in June.
Each month, Community Ministry provides supporting churches with a food item to donate. The food item we are collecting for March is canned fruit. Donations can be placed in the shopping cart outside of Fellowship Hall.
Community Ministry Neighborhood Garden
Christ the King and Daisy Masoner has taken the lead in maintaining the local community garden. Christ the King members plant the garden in May and work throughout the summer weeding and harvesting vegetables to donate to Community Ministry for distribution. In 2016, we harvested over 1400 lbs. of vegetables.
Christ the King and the Rocky Mtn. Synod supports Growing Home, a non-profit serving children and families, by providing a shelter for homeless families for a one-week period several times a year. Christ the King takes charge of one night for three to four families. We prepare dinner, interact with families after dinner, and spend the night as a sponsor. Our next sponsor evening will be on Monday, August 7, 2017.
God’s Global Barnyard
Every year during Advent, Christ the King members purchase ELCA Good Gifts. These items include barnyard animals, water jugs, vaccinations, fruit tree seedlings, and microloans. In December 2016, we were able to purchase $2,444 worth of gifts.
ELCA World Hunger
During the Thanksgiving season, Christ the King gives thanks by supporting ELCA’s World Hunger with a special offering.
